Bellarmine Jug Stein

A nice Bellarmine or Bartmann (Bearded) jug stein which may be circa 1910. Original Bartmann / Bellarmine jug steins were manufactured in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries.

An original catalog picture of Reinhold Merklebach, Model 008 (c. 1910 - 1920). Reinhold Merklebach produced 45 Bellarmine Jug reproductions of steins that were in museum collections all over Germany.  The original of this jug stein came from Kunstgewerbemuseum in cologne.

The lid of the stein has nice patina on the outside and is nice and shiny on the inside, which could suggest that it could be from 1910 - 1920.

Even though the jug stein has the desirable blueish clay, the possible sanding marks are a concern. I am unable to identify the mark.

My First J.W. Remy ?

This is a very nice example of an Incised or Reetmachte stein.
It is believed to be a J.W. Remy from the capacity mark and the colours ( http://www.steinmarks.co.uk )
I have just learned that the small knowledge I have acquired about steins, is in fact even smaller lol

I am unsure about the mark in the middle, it resembles a "W" or a "2"
I believe the "Germany" mark indicates it was made for export

This is the capacity mark

1/4L Pressed Glass Stein

This is a small 1/4L pressed glass stein. The picture does not do it justice as it is quite nice.

The specs in the picture are trapped air bubbles in the glass, which I believe reveals that the stein is quite old.

Brewery stein

The Maß (pronounced Mass) is the Bavarian word describing the amount of beer in a regulation mug, in modern times exactly 1 litre (33.8 US fl oz). This example does not have a capacity mark, which could indicate that it was manufactured prior to 1887 (the year capacity marks were required by law).

The swirls indicate that the stein was made on a potter`s turn-table. The swirls are caused by a wire used to remove the stein from the potter`s turn table.

Regimental stein - Is it real or a reproduction

Only reason I suggest it is a Regimental is due to the lithophane below.

A hand painted pressed glass stein

I really enjoy this stein.
I believe it is old, due to the hand painted flowers and the date of the mark on the bottom of the stein.

Lithophane

This is one of my first lithophane steins.

I have tried to search for this tower, but to no avail.

All pewter stein

This is my first all pewter stein, I again know very little about this stein.

Munchen

I know little about this stein.

Passed on a Mettlach

When I knew even less about steins than I do know, I was in a store that had this lovely stein and a Mettlach stein. I chose this stein, I stand by my choice (Ok I would have bought both).

Freut Euch Des Lebens

The artist may be Franz Ringer.

"Freut euch des lebens" (Enjoy Life), is a waltz composed by Johann Strauss II and premiered in Vienna in 1870.

My First Stein

This was my first stein I am not sure who manufactured the stein nor the year.
I have searched for "ANNO 1725", but again found little.
